Become familiar with your experimental procedures and the materials you will be using.

List the Materials and Methods Involved Create a mental or written list (or flow chart) of the steps in the experiment. Next to each step, list the equipment involved and the chemical names, concentrations, and volumes of all substances to be used. If you will be generating any significant intermediates or products, list these as well. Review the lists and identify those procedures, equipment, and materials that are new to your work and may generate new kinds of risks.
