Special Hazards

The handling of certain classes of hazardous chemicals under some conditions warrants the use of special procedures or controls. Select a class of hazardous material from the right hand column to see a list of the additional hazards, personal protective equipment, engineering controls, procedures, and storage requirements associated with each of these hazardous chemical classes.

Flammable materials are those solvents that have flash points below 100oF (37.8oC).

Highly reactive materials include chemicals that are inherently unstable and susceptible to rapid decomposition.

Corrosive materials include strong acids and bases, dehydrating agents, and oxidizing agents.

Compressed Gas Cylinders

Chemicals of high acute or chronic toxicity cause a variety of adverse health effects in humans when contact is made in low doses.

For information about any of these classes of hazardous materials consult the reference section.
