Things to Remember When Entering the Laboratory
Minimize exposed skin in the laboratory. Clothing protects against minor spills and contact with chemicals that can lead to dermal adsorption. A laboratory coat should be worn over your clothing and washed routinely. Never eat, drink, smoke, or apply cosmetics in the laboratory. The food, beverages, cigarettes, or cosmetics may become chemically contaminated and lead to ingestion or skin contact. Gloves should only be worn inside the laboratory. Leaving or entering the lab with them on can lead to contamination of door knobs, elevator buttons, etc. and expose others outside the work place. |
