If You Discover a Fire If you discover a fire or see smoke follow these procedures immediately: Notify the Fire Department Activate the building alarm (fire pull station). If not available or operational, verbally notify people in the building Isolate the area by closing windows and doors and evacuate the building Shut down equipment in the immediate area, if this can be done safely Use a portable fire extinguisher to clean the way for oneself to evacuate, assist another to evacuate, or control a small fire, if possible.
