  Symptoms of Over Exposure

The symptoms of overexposure to a chemical will be listed on the substance’s material safety data sheet, MSDS. Common signs and symptoms of exposure to chemicals include:

Skin rashes or dermatitis
Irritation to the eyes, nose, throat, upper respiratory tract, or skin
Burns to the skin or eyes
Fatigue, dizziness, headaches, lightheadedness, loss of coordination, insomnia, muscle or joint pain
Persistent cough, wheezing, tightness of the chest, chest pain, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain

If you are experiencing these types of symptoms or the symptoms listed on a materials MSDS and feel they are related to your work, inform your supervisor, the Department of Employee Health, and the Office of Environmental Health and Safety immediately. Stop work and re-examine the risk assessment performed for this experiment.
