If work is done on an open bench and not in a chemical fume hood (behind a sash), wear goggles instead of glasses. Large containers > 500ml Safety goggles, gloves, long sleeved lab coat, rubber apron, closed toe shoes. If potential for a splash is high, it is advisable to use both face shield and goggles. If work is done on an open bench and not in a chemical fume hood, it is recommended that a face shield be worn in addition to goggles. Caustic solids (lime, etc.) Safety glasses, gloves, long sleeved lab coat, closed toe shoes. If a potential for getting a chemical into the face is high use face shield in addition to glasses.
