Balancing Act: For Caregivers of Aging Parents and Spouses

Caring for an ill spouse or aging parent at the same time as managing one’s own household, job and health raises many challenges. This program teaches caregivers how to find the right resources at the right time to help as well as ways to keep their own healthy and sense of humor through it all. This program presents research-based findings as well as the collected wisdom of the large caregiver support network (which includes volunteers who are former family caregivers) run by VNA Community Healthcare. The program helps individuals: 1) Recognize stress factors and signs of burnout, 2) Know where to get information, tools and support and how to put them in place, 3) Learn about coping mechanisms and best practices from veteran caregivers.
