Hiring International Faculty and Staff

This course will provide hiring officers with a basic understating of the U.S. immigration regulations and Yale policies that impact the hiring of foreign nationals in faculty and staff positions. Participants will become familiar with the possibilities and limitations of the various immigration statuses, as well as the different application procedures. The course will be informal and interactive so please bring your questions.


COURSE OBJECTIVE(S):
1 Understand University policy and immigration options for hiring foreign national faculty and staff
2 Understand the hiring unit’s role and the role of OISS in the process
3 Gain knowledge necessary to determine which options are viable in a particular situation
4 Gain basic understanding of the internal and external process of acquiring the appropriate immigration status
