Coaching for Performance

Coaching is one of the most important roles managers play. Unfortunately it is often ineffective and/or avoided completely.

This module is designed to improve the overall ability of managers to perform their role as performance coach. In this module managers will gain greater understanding of the coaching role and practice skills to become more comfortable in carrying out this critical part of their responsibilities. Coaching for performance focuses on helping the employee develop strategies and address barriers to effectively carry out the essential duties necessary for being successful in their role.

Prework:
Think about an employee you would like to coach for performance. Come prepared with a brief description of the person's role, the current situation and what you would like to coach them on.
