United Way: Your Donation
Can Change Lives
In 2003-2004, we raised $566,000 for Yale's neighbors
in Greater New Haven, exceeding our $500,000 goal. This
year, we expect to raise $1,000,000! Two new features
make this possible: (1) President Levin's University
matching gift for the first $100,000 in new pledges
or increased pledges. (2) The entire Greater New Haven
Campaign has joined Success
by 6 to ensure that children ages 0 to 6 succeed
in school. You may choose to designate some or all of
your pledge to Success by 6. The United Way campaign
is one way to continue our long tradition of community
service through payroll deduction, check, credit card,
or a gift of stock. This is an easy and effortless way
to participate in improving our community.

Days of Caring Book Drive -- 4,500 Books Distributed!
Yale donated over 4,500 children's books during
the September Days of Caring initiative. Many
of these books already have arrived in the hands
of schools. Teachers express the great excitement
of students receiving the books, and the "New
Haven Reads" staff report that the additional
books have given them a great surge from ready
readers. Thank you!

Working
at Yale and Making an Impact
A
number of dedicated Yale staff are involved in
this year's United Way Campaign, showing they
care as much about the community of Greater New
Haven as they do about the community they serve
every day at Yale. Over 130 staff are serving
as Champions for their areas of the University.
